Prof.dr.ir. Herbert Bos

Herbert Bos is hoogleraar Systemen en Netwerkbeveiliging aan de Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, waar hij mede-leider is van de onderzoeksgroep VUsec. Hij behaalde zijn Ph.D. van Cambridge University Computer Laboratory (VK). Met een systeemachtergrond is hij een paar jaar geleden in de beveiliging terechtgekomen en is nooit meer weggegaan. Zijn onderzoekinteresses bestrijken alle aspecten van beveiliging en betrouwbaarheid op systeemniveau, inclusief onderwerpen als softwareverharding, exploitatie, micro-architecturale aanvallen, binaire analyse, fuzzing, zijkanalen en reverse-engineering. Hij is erg trots op zijn (oud-)leerlingen die veel slimmer zijn dan hij.

I believe that the academic infosec community, with all its different disciplines, needs an organisation such as ACCSS to help answer the community’s questions about research and education, to forecast and understand important research topics, and to serve as the first point of contact for government and industry to interact with the academic infosec community.  I will strive to ensure that ACCSS represents all of its members and provides our community a powerful and recognizable voice in the security-related discourse.”
