The National Cybersecurity Research Agenda IV (NCSRA-IV) has been published! The research agenda is a crucial step toward future-proofing our digital ecosystem in the face of rapid technological shifts, growing digital dependence, and global geopolitical uncertainties.
A clear mission is outlined: To increase our national resilience and keep cyberspace secure by integrating all research disciplines needed to create the social, political, economic, legal and technological context needed for cybersecurity. It prioritizes security by design and default. This moves us towards a future where digital systems are inherently safe, and where technology not only supports but also embeds and promotes fundamental Dutch and European values.
A key part of the agenda is the research matrix that identifies the areas where Dutch researchers already lead internationally and areas that are essential to develop further in the years to come.
The NCSRA-IV is not just a standalone vision. It’s closely aligned with other key national strategies, including: the Netherlands Cybersecurity Strategy, the Action Agenda for the National Technology Strategy, the EU Cybersecurity Strategy and long-term societal and economic resilience plans such as the Security Strategy for the Kingdom of the Netherlands and the Netherlands Digitalisation Strategy.
We are proud that the creation of this research agenda was a collaboration between researchers from academia, united in ACCSS, the ACademic Cybersecurity Society, and researchers from universities of applied science, united under the umbrella of PRIO, Platform Praktijkgericht ICT-Onderzoek.
The research agenda is supported by NWO, dcypher, the Ministry of Economic Affairs, Cyberveilig Nederland and Topsector ICT.
We are looking forward to continuing to strengthen collaboration in cybersecurity across disciplines and sectors.
