Hardware and Cyber-Physical System Security Working Group
This working group comprises researchers in the fields of hardware security and cyber-physical system security in the Netherlands focused on developing technologies to protect our critical systems, from smart cities and autonomous vehicles to industrial control systems and medical devices.
Foundation
In today’s interconnected world, where technology permeates every aspect of our lives, ensuring the security of our hardware and cyber-physical systems has become paramount. This working group comprises researchers in the fields of hardware security and cyber-physical system security in the Netherlands focused on developing technologies to protect our critical systems, from smart cities and autonomous vehicles to industrial control systems and medical devices. The working group was founded in December 2022 by Francesco Regazzoni (UvA) and Chenglu Jin (CWI).
Objective Cyber-Physiical System Security Working Group
The Hardware and Cyber-Physical System Security Working Group has three primary objectives. Firstly, it aims to serve as a hub that brings together researchers, experts, and professionals from various disciplines, fostering collaboration, and promoting knowledge sharing. By creating a network, the working group facilitates the exchange of ideas, research findings, and innovative solutions to address emerging security challenges.
Secondly, the group aims to act as a bridge, connecting private and public entities with academia. Recognizing the importance of collaboration between industry, government agencies, and educational institutions, the working group facilitates partnerships and knowledge transfer, leading to the development of more robust and effective security measures.
Lastly, the working group aims to rise awareness about security issues in hardware and cyber-physical systems, bridging the gap between research community and general public. Through educational initiatives and public forums, the group will promote a proactive approach to system security and encourages informed decision-making.
What is it?
The Hardware and Cyber-Physical System Security Working Group is a group of researchers coming from academia and industry dealing with security problems related with hardware and cyber-physical systems. This working group serves as a focal point for researchers, practitioners, and stakeholders to collaborate and address the security challenges associated with the design of cryptographic hardware and with the deployment ans secure operation of cyber-physical systems.
With a strong emphasis on networking, knowledge sharing, the working group acts as a driving force in advancing the field of hardware and cyber-physical system security research and in bridging the gap between academia and industry.
Organisation Cyber-Physical System Security Working Group
The working group is currently led by Francesco Regazzoni (UvA) and Chenglu Jin (CWI). As a working group, we are motivated to contribute to agenda setting and matchmaking in our area. To that end, the working group will meet the group members and organize a half-day meeting at least quarterly months to discuss research collaboration and potential funding opportunities. We will also organize a workshop once a year, involving all group members, open to the wider audience, such as companies and researchers from other sectors.
