Privacy Statement ACCSS

The ACademic Cyber Security Society (ACCSS), respects your privacy. Information will be kept for no longer than is necessary for the purpose for which it was collected, and will not be used for purposes that are not compatible with the original purpose. ACCSS processes personal data in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). When processing personal data, ACCSS follows the principles of subsidiarity and proportionality. As regards subsidiarity, ACCSS will consider whether the objectives served by the processing of data could also be achieved in other ways, using less personal data or using less sensitive personal data to infringe less on the privacy of the data subject(s). The processing of personal data should also be proportionate to the intended purpose. As such, ACCSS collects no more data than is required for the intended purpose.

Personal data is adequately secured and treated with the utmost care. ACCSS pays careful attention to privacy in all its processes and activities.

Rights of data subjects
Due to the arrival of the GDPR, the processing of personal data is subject to new rules. ACCSS handles the data of data subjects and (former) members securely and carefully. Needless to say, ACCSS must be completely certain that we are providing the personal data to the right person. As such, we ask you to send us a copy of your passport or other identification along with your access request. When doing so, ACCSS asks you to obscure your social security number and photograph.

If there are errors or omissions in the personal data held by ACCSS about you, you may submit a request for rectification.
