BGP Cybersecurity accepted

October 5, 2022

The Broadly Supported Program (BGP) Cybersecurity for the Top Sectors, or a research program that should lead to “cybersecurity solutions for societal transitions”, has now been approved. The implementation of the program will start on 1 January 2023, with an intended duration of at least five years. It is likely that matchmaking meetings will be organized for this purpose in 2023, in which researchers and entrepreneurs can explore possibilities for research collaboration.

The BGP Cybersecurity tackles the cybersecurity issues that arise from major social transitions and organizes efficient chains of cooperation for this purpose. This BGP is a further development into a (widely supported) program of the Multi year Program (MJP) Cybersecurity under the KIA Key Technologies (ST) and of the Cybersecurity mission under the KIA Security from the Multi year Mission-driven Innovation Program (MMIP).

BGP Steering Committee members on behalf of science (ACCSS) are Aiko Pras and Jan Piet Barthel.

In consultation with experts from the relevant Top Sectors, additional discussions and desk research, dcypher, TNO and Team ICT have identified seven broadly supported cybersecurity themes.

Seven BGP themes were identifided

  1. Security by design
  2. Secure data driven working
  3. Secure and robust connectivity
  4. Secure OT and IoT and integration with IT
  5. Cyberriskmanagement
  6. System- and chain security
  7. Cybersecurity awareness, knowledge and skills

The design of the BGP cybersecurity provides for two tracks to instrument the agenda with the seven themes:

  1. NWO KIC calls (KIA ST and KIA Safety) and
  2. TKI projects based on use cases supported by several Top Sectors (the so-called project cards).
